Trouble brewing for Blues over young Brazilian
(13-08-2010) Chelsea could be in hot water after trying to prise young Brazilian star Neymar away from Santos. According to reports, Santos claim Blues officials met the player without their permission, with club president Luis Alvaro Ribeiro considering reporting them to FIFA. Representatives of Chelsea are alleged to have met with Neymar's agent and family in New York this week ahead of Brazil's friendly against the USA. Neymar opened the scoring in the 2-0 win over the Americans to further enhance his reputation. "Chelsea have made a formal offer that was rejected outright," Ribeiro told a news conference. "But the harassment has continued. In light of the ethical positions that should govern the relationship between clubs, that is totally intolerable and Santos will defend its interests before FIFA." Chelsea have reportedly offered £16.5m for Neymar despite the buyout clause in his contract standing at £28m.
