English backbone will inspire City – Milner

(27-08-2010) James Milner insists Manchester City will be successful because the spine of the team is made up of Englishman. While a lot is expected from big-money foreign imports like David Silva, Jerome Boateng and Yaya Toure, England international Milner believes fellow Englishmen Joe Hart, Gareth Barry, Adam Johnson and Micah Richards are the players who can pioneer City's return to former glories. "You look at every team that has done well in the EPL and they had an English core,” said the recent £24m signing from Aston Villa. "It is the same in any country but you need the perfect mix and the perfect balance. That is down to the manager and I think Roberto Mancini has done that here.”
