Fergie slams players for 'silly points' dropped
(23-08-2010) Sir Alex Ferguson claimed his Manchester United charges dropped “silly points” against Fulham on Sunday. The Red Devils drew 2-2 with the Cottagers after leading 2-1 when their Portuguese winger Nani missed an 87th-minute penalty that would have secured a 3-1 lead. Fulham centre-back Brede Hangeland then popped up to head home an equaliser in the final minute. "When you get the opportunity to seal the game with that penalty you should be taking it," Ferguson told MUTV afterwards. "When we got that second goal I thought 'we've escaped here'. But to miss a penalty kick to make it 3-1, you're throwing two points away.” He added: "You don't want to be dropping silly points and we dropped silly points here. We can't escape that.” The result leaves United two points behind EPL leaders Chelsea.
