Masch expects fight for Barca starting place

(31-08-2010) Javier Mascherano on Monday completed his “dream move” to Barcelona but doesn’t expect to waltz straight into the star-studded club’s starting line-up. The Argentine captain signed a four-year deal with the Catalans after successfully completing a five-hour medical. "When I landed I said that I was achieving a dream. At last I will be able to say that I play for Barcelona, the team who I wanted to play for," said the 26-year-old, who will compete with the likes of World Cup winners Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Sergio Busquets for a place in midfield. "I know that they've won everything, it's a team full of great players, with a base of world champions and I will try to be humble and help the team continue winning things.” Barca paid Liverpool £18m for Mascherano.
