Reds star still desperate to leave

(11-08-2010) Liverpool star midfielder Javier Mascherano remains desperate to join Barcelona. The Argentine captain has wanted to leave Anfield ever since Rafa Benitez left the club two months ago to join Inter Milan. His agent Horacio Zandonadi claims that this remains the case and that the 26-year-old will push as hard as possible for a move, snubbing any attempt by new Reds boss Roy Hodgson to persuade him otherwise. Zandonadi however insists that Mascherano has his eyes set on a £30m switch to Barcelona and not Inter Milan as has been widely reported. "Javier would love to play for Barcelona next season. The player and all of us would love to see him sign for them," Zandonadi said on Tuesday.
