Spurs in for former United youngster

(29-08-2010) Tottenham have their sights on former Manchester United striker Giuseppe Rossi if their loan move for Klaas-Jan Huntelaar fails. Rossi, who was part of Italy’s World Cup squad, currently plays for Spanish side Villarreal. He is valued at around £8m. The 23-year-old, who was born in the USA, played for United for two years but eventually moved to Parma in Serie A after finding his opportunities limited at Old Trafford. Huntelaar, who starred for Ajax early in his career, is currently on the books of Real Madrid but hardly ever features at the Bernabeu. Whichever player Spurs go for, it will have to happen before the 30 August close of the transfer window.
