Drog calls for vast improvement

(10-08-2010) Didier Drogba has called on Chelsea to 'step up their game' ahead of the start of the new EPL season. The reigning league champions have been uncharacteristically off-colour during pre-season losing four successive games, the last one being the 3-1 defeat to archenemies Manchester United in the Charity Shield on Sunday. "The game against United showed we are not ready,” commented last season’s Golden Boot winner on Monday. "We have to step up our game if we want to start the season well like we did last year.” Added Drogba: “A lot of players have only trained for 10 days. It is too short to be fit and ready for the big competition. We have to improve our game, even if we are not fit, and hope that in two to three weeks time we will be better.” Chelsea open their title defence of against newly promoted West Brom.
