Blues snap up Samba Star

(14-08-2010) Chelsea completed the signing of Brazilian star Ramires on Friday. The 23-year-old midfielder heads to Stamford Bridge from Benfica for £17m having already passed a medical. He signed a four-year deal. "He is a fantastic player," commented Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti. "He will be the future of the Brazil national team and I hope the future of Chelsea." Ramires, who has 16 international caps, was part of Brazil’s World Cup squad that lost to Holland in the quarterfinals. He is able to operate in the centre or on the right of midfield. He joined Benfica last summer for £6.2m from Cruzeiro.
