Spurs eye EPL legend and other red-hot gossip

(11-08-2010) Tottenham are eyeing veteran defender William Gallas. The 33-year-old Frenchman was released by their arch North London rivals Arsenal at the end of last season and is a free agent. However, a stumbling block could be his demand for a two-year-contract, with Spurs boss Harry Redknapp only prepared to offer him a single season at White Hart Lane. Elsewhere, new Fulham manager Mark Hughes is set to make Algerian defender Rafik Halliche his first signing, with the 23-year-old Benfica centre-back moving to Craven Cottage for £1.8m; Barcelona have emerged as a possible destination for Manchester United target Mesut Ozil, with the Catalans prepared to pay £8.3m for the Werder Bremen star; Tottenham are considering whether to make a £22m offer for Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor; and Liverpool are preparing a £12m bid for West Ham striker Carlton Cole after dropping their interest in Tottenham forward Peter Crouch.
