Masch feels wrath of teammates

(25-08-2010) Javier Mascherano’s teammates have hit out at the Argentine midfielder for refusing to play in Liverpool’s EPL clash with Manchester City on Monday. According to reports, Mascherano went A.W.O.L. after the club turned down an offer from Barcelona for his services. Barca are said to have offered £12.8m for the tough-tackling player, well short of the Reds £25m valuation. "The manager was thinking of a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Lucas and Mascherano as the holding midfielders,” a source close to the Merseysiders said on Tuesday. "But he had to have a complete rethink and go with a 4-4-2. The senior players at the club were seriously hacked off with Mascherano on Monday night and that was clear when he arrived back on Tuesday. There are players in that squad who are Liverpool through and through and they were fuming at what Mascherano did." Liverpool were thumped 3-0 by City.
