Roo in plea to Scholes

(26-08-2010) Wayne Rooney on Wednesday called on Manchester United teammate Paul Scholes to reconsider his decision to retire from international football. The 35-year-old Scholes quit playing for England in 2004 after winning 65 caps. "I'd like to see him playing. He's fantastic, one of the best players in the country,” commented Rooney. "But it's his decision and Fabio Capello's whether he wants to try to pick him. It's down to them." Scholes rejected Capello's request to play in the World Cup earlier this year but has since said he regretted not going to South Africa where England bombed out in the last 16.
