‘Hand of God' is mine – Suarez

The man who denied Ghana a place in the semi-finals of the World Cup claims the ‘Hand of God’ now belongs to him. Uruguay striker Luis Suarez broke African hearts on Friday by palming away a goal-bound header in the last minute of extra-time of his country’s quarterfinal clash with the Black Stars. Asamoah Gyan missed the resulting spot-kick before Ghana lost a penalty shoot-out to the South Americans. "The 'Hand of God' now belongs to me. I made the best save of the tournament. Sometimes in training I play as a goalkeeper so it was worth it,” said the Ajax Amsterdam striker. "There was no alternative but for me to do that and when they missed the penalty I thought 'It’s a miracle and we’re alive in the tournament'." Suarez comments evoked memories of Diego Maradona's 'Hand of God' goal against England in the 1986 finals.
