Blues up the ante for Torres
Chelsea are set to pull out all the stops to sign Fernando Torres by making a club record bid for the Spanish striker. On Friday it emerged that the west Londoners were ready to offer Liverpool £50m for the player despite the Merseysiders earlier claims that they would not welcome any further approaches for their World Cup-winning star. Liverpool signed Torres for £21.5m from Atletico Madrid three years ago. And despite an injury plagued time at Anfield, the 26-year-old has set the scene alight when fit, scoring an incredible 56 goals in 79 appearances.
