Racism mars Reds win in Macedonia
Liverpool’s win over FK Rabotnicki in the Europa League on Thursday was marred by racist taunting of two of their players. According to reports, images have emerged of supporters of the Macedonia team directing monkey taunts towards Liverpool’s players. Roy Hodgson started the tie in Skopje with two black players in his side - striker David Ngog and 19-year-old winger David Amoo. Racism has long been a problem in Macedonian football. In 2003, Emile Heskey, Sol Campbell and Ashley Cole were all the subject of abuse in an international between England and Macedonia at the same stadium. The Football Federation of Macedonia was later fined by Fifa for the incident.
