Gunners in for Fulham stopper
Arsenal have offered veteran goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer a player-coach role at the Emirates as added incentive for him to move across London. The 37-year-old Australian currently plays for Fulham but is desperate for Champions League football. However, Arsenal have been told by the Cottagers that they will need to increase their initial bid of £2m if they want to secure his services. The Gunners suffered last season after Manuel Almunia and Lukasz Fabianski both failed to convince between the posts for the club. Manager Arsene Wenger does however have high hopes for 20-year-old Polish stopper Wojciech Szczesny and sees a move for Schwarzer as a short-term fix.
