Owen wants to save England
Michael Owen insists he has what it takes to help England out of the doldrums. Urging England manager Fabio Capello “not to write him off”, the Manchester United striker says he still has the desire to represent the Three Lions and score goals for them. "I missed the World Cup through injury and whether I'd have been selected or not is a different matter,” said the 30-year-old who is nine goals short of Bobby Charlton's all-time England scoring record of 49. "But I've definitely not retired from international football. If ever I was called upon, I'd go,” added Owen. The former Liverpool, Real Madrid and Newcastle star featured at the 1998, 2002 and 2006 World Cups for England, as well as at two European Championships.
