City still hopeful of landing Roo and other red-hot gossip

(05-11-2010) Manchester City are lining up a £60m move for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney despite the 25-year-old recently signing a new five-year deal. According to reports, the big-spending Blues believe they can get their man because of his frosty relationship with manager Sir Alex Ferguson. They also point to the fact that Cristiano Ronaldo signed a new contract before suddenly jetting off to Real Madrid. Elsewhere, Udinese's Chilean international winger Alexis Sanchez could be on the verge of a move to Manchester United, according to his agent; Liverpool will move for Athletic Bilbao's 1.96m striker Fernando Llorente, if they lose Fernando Torres in the January transfer window; and Tottenham are set to swoop for rising Lyon star Alexandre Lacazette, who considered one of the best young forwards in Europe.
