Fans give Roo rousing welcome back

(21-11-2010) Sir Alex Ferguson has praised the Manchester United faithful for welcoming Wayne Rooney back to Old Trafford on Saturday with open arms. Many had expected that the England striker would face a hot reception following his recent criticism of the club’s ambition. On the contrary, the 25-year-old was cheered onto the pitch when he came on as a 56th minute substitute in United’s 2-0 win over Wigan. "That was good, that will be pleasing for him, settle him down and make him realise he is at the right club, no doubt about that,” commented Ferguson. "He will play against Rangers on Wednesday and that will be the perfect match for him to come back and get 90 minutes." In the match itself, goals from Patrice Evra and Javier Hernandez helped United move level on points with leaders.
