Spurs in for World Cup star and other red-hot gossip

(11-11-2010) Uruguayan World Cup star Luiz Suarez wants to leave Ajax Amsterdam and join Tottenham. The striker, who lead the small South American country’s line alongside Diego Forlan as they surged into the semi-finals in South Africa earlier this year, is one of the hottest properties in Europe and is valued at around £30m. Elsewhere, Chelsea and Bayern Munich are interested in Roma striker Mirko Vucinic, who is valued at over £20m; Dinamo Zagreb defender Sime Vrsaljko is attracting interest from Tottenham, Arsenal, Everton, Manchester City and Manchester United, according to the president of the Croatian club; Everton look to be leading the race to land Hapoel Tel Aviv's Israeli striker Itay Shechter, who has also attracted the interest of West Ham; and Roque Santa Cruz is a £3m Wolfsburg target, while Fulham also want the striker who cost Manchester City £14m from Blackburn.
