Forgive and forget, urges Vidic

(27-11-2010) Nemanja Vidic has urged Manchester United fans the world over to forgive Wayne Rooney and allow him to focus on what he does best – terrorise EPL defences and score goals. Many of the club’s faithful (and some of his team-mates) were upset by Rooney’s conduct in his recent contract negotiations with the club in which he threatened to leave because of a perceived lack of ambition. "We have to forget what happened in the past," said Vidic on Friday. "It is great news he has signed a new contract and will be part of Manchester United for the next few years.” Rooney returned to United’s starting line-up for Wednesday’s Champions League win over Rangers. He scored the 87th minute winning penalty. "He showed on Wednesday that he is hungry to play for this club. He is hungry to score goals and had a few opportunities,” added Vidic.
