Roo sent abroad to sort his head out

(06-11-2010) Wayne Rooney has been asked to take a trip abroad in order to sort out his head. According to a report by The Sun newspaper, the England striker has flown to Nike HQ in the USA as the club believe they need “a break from each other with emotions still raw after his threat last month to quit Old Trafford.” It is hoped that the the trip helps to appease Nike, the club's shirt supplier, who felt aggrieved over the England star's contract negotiations. Red Devils assistant manager Mike Phelan said: "We just thought it might be in the interests of him and the club to have a change of scenery for a little while." Rooney recently signed a new £250,000 a week contract with the club which makes him the highest paid player in the EPL. He is expected to miss the upcoming derby against Manchester City.
