We were battered – Red Roy

(14-11-2010) Liverpool were battered into submission by Stoke City’s tactics on Saturday, claims Roy Hodgson. The Reds, who last weekend beat league leaders Chelsea, lost 2-0 to Stoke. It was their first defeat against the Potters in 26 years. "The 1-0 goal came from a long throw. I thought we worked hard on defending that as well as we could during the week but once we went behind we had to take more risks,” moaned Hodgson afterwards. "Today most of the day is about defending long throws and long balls forward, against Chelsea it's a team moving the ball around the field.” He added: "You can't compare games against Stoke with games against Chelsea; everyone knows Stoke is a very special game.” The win lifted Stoke above the Reds into 10th place.
