Johnson’s not yet up to it – Mancini

(14-11-2010) Adam Johnson is not yet the finished article and should not believe all the hype that is being written about him, claims Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini. The young England winger has only started eight games for the Blues this season, with Mancini preferring to go with £24m summer arrival David Silva. Mancini has now instructed the 23-year-old to "think more" and work harder for the team. "England is like Italy. When a young player plays five games very well all the newspapers say 'oh this Adam Johnson is a fantastic player',” said Mancini on Friday. “When you are young you read the newspapers and think 'I am the top, I am the top'. But Adam Johnson is a young player and doesn't understand the game very well. I think he can improve a lot more if he thinks more when he plays.”
