Mancini defends negative substitutions
(11-11-2010) Roberto Mancini claims his Manchester City side did everything they could to try and get three points in Wednesday’s Manchester Derby. The match ended in a goalless stalemate at Eastlands, with Mancini drawing some criticism for his substitutions – changing his two full backs and then waiting until the last minute of stoppage time before bringing on Emmanuel Adebayor. "When you play in a derby it is a difficult game. We did not have many chances to score but it was a good point,” said the Italian afterwards. "We tried to win but they defended very well. We play to win but when you do not have many chances it is difficult." The result leaves City in fourth place on the EPL standings, three points behind United anfd seven points behind league leaders Chelsea.
