Red Devils chase winger and other transfer rumours

Manchester United have their eyes firmly set on Benfica's Argentine winger Angel Di Maria and hope a £12m cheque will persuade the Portuguese club to sell him during the January transfer window. United representatives watched the 21-year-old play against Everton in the Europa League on Thursday and believe they have finally found a player to fill the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo. Elsewhere, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City are to fight it out for CSKA Moscow winger Milos Krasic but could be put off by his £18m valuation, German team Hertha Berlin want former England defender Sol Campbell on an 18-month contract, and Arsenal's teenage Spanish striker Fran Merida hopes to sign a new contract with the Gunners despite interest from Atletico Madrid and a host of other La Liga clubs.
