Rooney set for whopper contract

Wayne Rooney is set to become the highest paid player in the EPL. According to a report in the News of the World newspaper, the Manchester United striker will put pen to paper on a deal that will see him earn a whopping £170,000-a-week plus another £45,000-a-week for his image rights. His new contract will see him remain at Old Trafford until 2014. It will also kill off any temptations from Spain after Barcelona put the 23-year-old top of their wanted list for the summer. The image rights element will overshadow the Red Devils previous highest agreement with Cristiano Ronaldo.
