Arshavin in quit threat

Russian star Andrey Arshavin has stunned Arsenal fans by revealing that he is considering retiring from football after his country’s recent World Cup heartache. Russia missed out on a place at the 2010 World Cup after losing to Slovenia in a two-legged playoff. "I am inconsolable and desolate at what has happened," said the midfielder on Friday. "My family keep telling me that I should forget it as soon as possible, that I should now switch to the club matters and the Champions League but that’s easier said than done." The 28-year-old came off the bench in the Gunners crushing defeat to Sunderland last week but did start the Champions League game against Standard Liege in mid-week. "Nothing revives me so far. When Arsene Wenger asked me what state I was in, I honestly told him that at the moment I just do not want to play football at all."
