Vidic declares his loyalty
Nemanja Vidic has scoffed at rumours that he is seeking a move to Spain or Italy to please his wife Ana. The 28-year-old, who is under contract with Manchester United until 2012, insists he wants to remain at Old Trafford and become the rock upon which the team is built. "I am glad to have been part of this club for so many years, if I could be one of the bases on which a new team is built I would be very happy," the Serbian said on Thursday. "I have never said I want to go and play in another country. Other people have spoken or written about it and I am not happy with that. The fact is I am happy here." Sir Alex Ferguson signed Vidic for £7.2m from Spartak Moscow in 2006, turning him into one of the world’s best central defenders.
