Optimistic Rafa still eyeing title

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez is still refusing to concede defeat in the title race after Monday’s 2-2 draw with Birmingham left the Reds eleven points behind leaders Chelsea. The result also extended the Reds miserable run to just one win in their last nine games. "I have always said we take it one game at a time," said Benitez who has not beaten Birmingham in seven attempts as a manager. "We are not talking about anything else. We are not talking about the table. I thought our performance was pretty good and we showed character." Earlier, David Ngog opened the scoring, before strikes from Christian Benitez and Cameron Jerome put the Blues ahead. Steven Gerrard salvaged a point from the penalty spot. The match also saw Liverpool’s already lengthy injury list worsen, with Yossi Benayoun and Albert Rieira picking up hamstring tears.
