Praise for new dad Rooney
A day after becoming a father, Wayne Rooney inspired an epic Manchester United comeback in their Champions League tie against CSKA Moscow on Tuesday. Manager Sir Alex Ferguson had earlier admitted that he had wanted to give Rooney the night off, just 24 hours after the striker's wife Coleen had given birth to baby boy Kai. But with the Red Devils trailing 3-1, Fergie was forced to introduce Rooney and watched as the 24-year-old hauled his team back into the game. "Wayne hadn't had much sleep and I would have preferred to have left him on the bench," said Ferguson afterwards. "Wayne was a safety player that we knew we could have played if we needed him. He was there for us. He's such a good player and is always capable of scoring. He was a wee bit unlucky not to get a goal."
