Brunt apologies for ‘naughty’ Roo tackle

(03-01-2011) West Brom’s Chris Brunt has apologised to Wayne Rooney for a tackle that could spell some time on the sidelines for the Manchester United star. Brunt caught Rooney during stoppage time of Saturday’s clash at The Hawthorns, a game won 2-1 by the Red Devils. "It was a naughty one," admitted Brunt, who was booked. "I did catch him and I apologised. I don't want to see anyone injured so I am glad he came back on. I was just hoping he didn't get me back but he seemed alright and hopefully it is nothing serious." United’s next opponents are Liverpool and Tottenham, and they will be hopeful Rooney’s injury is not too serious.
