No need to spend – Ferdinand

(21-01-2011) Manchester United don’t need to buy new players this month because they have the best squad in the league, reckons veteran defender Rio Ferdinand. With many fans calling on Sir Alex Ferguson to spend in order for the club to be competitive in Europe and at home, Ferdinand on Thursday insisted the Red Devils would not swap their squad for those at title rivals City, Arsenal, Spurs or Chelsea. "I look around the changing room and I'm happy with the players we've got. I'm sure the manager is too,” said Ferdinand. "If he sees fit to add to it, then I stand by whatever decision he makes but I don't see a problem. When everyone's fit, we've got the best squad in the league.” He added: "In midfield we've got Carrick, Fletcher, Scholes, Anderson, Giggs, Park, Nani, Valencia, Hargreaves. That's an abundance of talent!”
