Villa heading for the drop – Pires

(09-01-2011) EPL legend Robert Pires reckons Aston Villa are heading for relegation. The former Arsenal and France star’s comments come after the club tasted defeat in six of their last eight games. Pires said: "The squad needs to rally round very quickly. We are heading for the Championship if we continue as we are doing,” said the 37-year-old on Saturday. "We will be relegated.” Pires, who joined the club on a season long deal in September, also had a pop at manager Gerard Houllier. "This is not an easy time for me. I'm on the bench and I can't help the team. Gerard does not have confidence in me and I don't know why,” he added. Villa are currently third from bottom of the EPL.
