Reds eye Magpies marksman

(30-01-2011) Liverpool are chasing the signature of Newcastle hotshot Andy Carroll, who they see as a replacement Fernando Torres. According to reports, Reds boss Kenny Dalglish is ready to make a £30m move for the Magpies No9 if Torres joins Chelsea on transfer deadline day. The 22-year-old Carroll is expected to triple his £30,000-a-week wages by signing on at Anfield. Carroll has made a big impact in the EPL this season with 11 goals, including one in Newcastle’s 3-1 win over Liverpool at St James' Park.
