Becks ready to take massive pay cut

(11-01-2011) David Beckham is prepared to take a massive pay cut in order to join Tottenham. The former England captain is hoping to move to White Hart Lane on a three-month loan deal in the next couple of days. Beckham pockets £120,000 a week at current club LA Galaxy but is happy to accept Spurs’ offer of £65,000. Tottenham must also persuade Galaxy to let the 35-year-old stay until mid-March - and not demand he returns for MLS pre-season training on February 10. Spurs say a four-week stint does not make a loan deal worth their while. "It's not about insuring Beckham while he is in England and it's definitely not about image rights either,” a Spurs source revealed on Monday. "It is now purely a question of how long Galaxy will let him stay. Spurs will go ahead with the loan if they get the extra month."
