Stevie G wants stars to stand and deliver

Steven Gerrard has called on England’s ‘Golden Generation’ to finally deliver on the world stage. The talent of players such as Gerrard, Lampard, Terry, Ashley Cole, Ferdinand and Rooney has never been in question but with most of them hitting the twilight years of their respective careers, the Liverpool star urged them to hit the heights in South Africa. "The feeling that this is our last World Cup has got to be the attitude going into it," said Gerrard on Saturday. "It could be my last chance to win a World Cup, or even shine at one, so you want to give it everything you've got." Ferdinand and Lampard have both passed 30, with Terry and Cole not far behind. "Thirty is an age where you do consider what you have achieved internationally. You don't want to step out of this level of football without doing something,” added Gerrard.
