Roo rejects requests to slow down
There’s just no stopping Wayne Rooney. According to reports, the livewire England striker has refused requests to slow down ahead of the World Cup in a bid to keep him fit. The Manchester United hitman injured his neck in the closing stages of Monday’s friendly against Mexico, sparking further concerns about his well-being. Coming only a month after being struck down by groin and ankle knack, the England coaching staff are worried that their star striker won’t make it to South Africa in one piece. "You have to go into each game and play like you normally do," said Rooney on Tuesday. "If things happen then hard luck. I just try to give my all every time I play.” All very well, but a more urgent problem may be that he has only scored one goal in his last seven games!
