Gunners chasing Bolton star and other red-hot gossip

Arsenal are hot on the heels of highly-rated Bolton defender Gary Cahill. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger wants to bring in the young Englishman to the Emirates to provide good back-up for William Gallas and Thomas Vermaelen in the centre of defence. Bolton have responded by slapping a £15m price on Cahill’s head. Elsewhere, newly promoted Newcastle are struggling to hang onto star striker Andy Carroll with Stoke ready to offer £5m plus players for his services; Liverpool are reportedly keen on using flop midfielder Alberto Aquilani as part of a deal that would bring Juventus forward Vincenzo Iaquinta to Anfield; and Manchester United have slapped a £6m price tag on unsettled goalkeeper Ben Foster's pip after Birmingham stepped up their interest in the England international.
