Real to make sensational world record bid

Sensational news has emerged in Spain with reports that Real Madrid are planning an audacious move for Lionel Messi. Apparently the Meringues are prepared to smash the world transfer record with a staggering £120m offer for the Barcelona superstar. Real hold the current world transfer record having paid £80m to Manchester United last summer for Cristiano Ronaldo. They also spent a further £140m on Kaka, Xabi Alonso, Karim Benzema, Alvaro Arbeloa and Raul Albiol. But despite this lavish spending they have not been able to knock the Catalans off their perch at the top of La Liga. Real have poached a star player from Barca before, paying a then world record fee to prise Luis Figo from the Nou Camp in 2000. Watch this space!
