Spurs move to keep Modric

Tottenham have offered playmaker Luca Modric a whopping new £15m six-year contract to remain at White Hart Lane. The little Croatian is in high demand after a fantastic season, with Manchester United heading the queue for his services. But with Spurs playing in next season’s Champions League, they have moved decisively to keep their 24-year-old star player. Modric was signed from Dinamo Zagreb by Juande Ramos in 2008 for 16.5m. He initially struggled to make an impression but sparkled after Harry Redknapp took over and moved him from a deep role to the playmaker position.
