French star ready to quit United

Patrice Evra is ready to call time on his Manchester United career as he seeks a move to Real Madrid. According to a report in The Sun, the French international is the subject of an £18m bid by the La Liga giants and is believed to be tempted by the prospect of a new challenge. The 28-year-old joined United for £7m from Monaco almost five years ago. In that time, he has gone on to establish himself as one of the best left-backs in world football. Evra has two years left on his £80,000-per-week contract and United risk losing him for far less next year when he will only have a year left on his contact. Evra's good mate Cristiano Ronaldo is believed to have recommended him to Real.
