Keane set to overtake Anelka

Robbie Keane is eyeing a move to Aston Villa. The Ireland captain, who is currently on the books of Tottenham, spent the last six months of last season on loan at Celtic, after falling down the pecking order at White Hart Lane. Villa and Spurs are now apparently haggling over a transfer fee said to be in the region of £18m. If the deal goes through, Keane will become the second-most expensive player on the planet in terms of accumulated transfer fees. The Irishman’s career has seen him move from Wolves to Coventry to Inter Milan to Leeds to Tottenham to Liverpool and to Tottenham (again). If he moves to Villa he will overtake Nicolas Anelka and stand behind Cristiano Ronaldo in cost.
