EPL legend in City blast over son
EPL and Arsenal legend Ian Wright has launched a scathing attack on Manchester City, claiming they are “mugging” his son Shaun Wright-Phillips. Wright-Phillips contract negotiations with City recently collapsed. "They are mugging him off and treating him like a youth team player," said father Ian on Thursday. He pointed a particular finger at City chief executive Garry Cook and football administrator Brian Marwood. "They called him in and he wants to sign for the rest of his career so he can be settled and get ready to go to the World Cup. They're not treating him like someone who actually wants to be there. He signed before all the money came. I'm not sure they know what they're doing.” Wright-Phillips rejoined City from Chelsea for £8.5m in 2008 after initially being sold to the Londoners for a massive £21m in 2005.
