Reds eye Brum boss as Rafa replacement

Liverpool are eyeing Alex McLeish as a replacement for beleaguered manager Rafa Benitez. The Scot is in the process of agreeing a new contract with Birmingham which has alerted the Reds as Benitez continues to struggle. According to reports, the Merseysiders have been impressed with the way McLeish has guided Birmingham to eighth place in the EPL on a very modest budget. Benitez is contracted to Liverpool until 2014 but is likely to leave the club at the end of the season if they don’t qualify for the Champions League or win the Europa League. McLeish is a former Scotland and Glasgow Rangers manager. He has a buy-out clause of just £1million in his contract, which expires in 18 months.
