Real “obsessed” with United star and other red-hot gossip

Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon believes the La Liga giants are “obsessed” with bagging Wayne Rooney and could soon make a mega bid for the Manchester striker. “It seems that it's an obsession for the president (Florentino Perez) to go for Rooney. I imagine Manchester United wouldn't like to lose a player like him,” Calderon told BBC Radio Five Live's Sportsweek programme on Tuesday. Elsewhere, AC Milan have told David Beckham he can return to the club next year if he wants to after recovering from his Achilles injury; Juventus are set to make shock bid for Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas; and exciting young Inter Milan striker Mario Balotelli may leave the Serie A giants this summer, with both Arsenal and Manchester City rumoured to be interested in his signature.
