Becks operation a success
David Beckham underwent a successful operation to reattach his ruptured Achilles tendon on Monday. Finnish surgeon Professor Sakari Orava said he was happy with the procedure but that the AC Milan and England star would not play football again for six months. The 34-year-old suffered the injury playing for Milan against Chievo on Sunday. He was unchallenged when it happened and limped off before being carried away on a stretcher. "David is expected to make a full recovery. Professor Sakari Orava will conduct a further examination on Tuesday, when a programme for rehabilitation will be finalised,” said a spokesperson for Beckham on Monday. "David wants to thank everyone who has given him messages of support - it meant a lot to him." He will most certainly miss the 2010 World Cup.
