Red Devils eye German stopper and other red-hot gossip
In what could spell the end of Ben Foster and Tomasz Kuszczak’s Manchester United careers, the club are apparently hot on the heels of Schalke goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. The 24-year-old is valued at around £10m by the Bundesliga club. United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is desperate to line up a long-term successor to the ageing Edwin Van der Sar. Elsewhere, Bolton, Birmingham and Preston are all chasing Manchester United's England Under-21 international Tom Cleverley, who is currently on loan at Watford; Arsenal have joined Manchester City in the race to sign £11m Hamburg defender Jerome Boateng; Manchester City, Tottenham and Stoke are all keen on Getafe midfielder Pedro Leon; and Sunderland are prepared to pay £10m for Tottenham's David Bentley and Jamie O'Hara.
