Blues are EPL’s best payers
Chelsea’s array of star footballers are the best paid players in the EPL, earning on average a massive £3.5million a year. A recent report published by Sportingintelligence.com shows Blues owner Roman Abramovich has turned his squad into the fourth richest group of sportsmen in the world. In football, they trail La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona in the paying stakes, with baseball’s New York Yankees the highest paid sportsmen on the planet earning a whopping £4.6m a year each or almost £90,000 a week. NBA basketball stars make up the rest of the top 10 list for 2008. Chelsea skipper John Terry is the top individual EPL earner on £8m a year, followed by Wayne Rooney, who rakes home an estimated £6.2m in wages alone.
