‘United are a one-man team’

Manchester United are a “one-man team”, says Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben. The Red Devils clash with the Bundesliga giants later this month over two legs in the quarterfinals of the Champions League, and the Dutch international’s comments are sure to heighten tensions before the mouth-watering clash. Robben, who joined Bayern from Real Madrid for £21m last summer, claims the Red Devils have become too dependent on Rooney since Cristiano Ronaldo left last summer. "I have watched them on television many times recently and their team is certainly not as powerful as it was in the last two years. Rooney has been phenomenal this season. But at the moment he seems to be their only solution: What about if he doesn't function? They are almost a one-man team so our defenders will give him 180 minutes of non-stop distraction."
