Roo urged to break Ron’s record

Sir Alex Ferguson has urged in-form striker Wayne Rooney to go out and break Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal scoring record. Rooney took his tally for the season to 30 with two goals in Manchester United’s 4-0 drubbing of AC Milan in the Champions League on Wednesday. He is now 12 goals short of the 42 goals Ronaldo netted in the 2007-08 season. "It's a challenge. I am happy he's got to the 30 mark but to be honest, he just keeps on improving,” commented United manager Ferguson on Thursday. Rooney’s team-mate Darren Fletcher backed Fergie. "If he keeps going the way he is he can definitely reach the 40-goal mark. Wayne is not the kind of player to take it easy now. He will be trying to push on,” added Fletcher.
